News Stand: Allen chases World Cup dream

Jordan Allen scores vs Toronto 0331

News Stand 5/14/15

Real Salt Lake multi-purpose talent Jordan Allen has enjoyed a rise to consistent playing time this season, but he revealed in an interview with Franco Panizo of Soccer By Ives that a conversation with U.S. U-20 Head Coach Tab Ramos may have inadvertently been a motivational tool to drive him to those successes.

According to the article, Ramos labeled Allen a “role player” with RSL, a title the 20-year-old former RSL-Arizona Academy standout wasn’t used to seeing associated with his name.

“He was right about that, that I was a role player with RSL, but it kind of offended me a little bit because I don’t want to just be a role player,” Allen told SBI. “I want to be a player that’s important to the team and is making things happen. I’ve tried to do that a little bit more over the last few games.”
