SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake announced Tuesday that it has signed midfielder Adolfo “Fito” Ovalle as a Homegrown Player. Per league and club policy, the financial terms of the contracts will not be disclosed.
"Fito is a top-flight player out of our Academy and is a proven winner,” said RSL Technical Director Craig Waibel. “Getting the opportunity to play at the professional level will be beneficial to his career and he has a bright future ahead of him."
Ovalle, 17, is a product of the RSL-Arizona Academy. During his time with the Academy, he played 54 matches with the U-16s from 2012-2014, helping win the USSDA championship in 2013. He started this season with the U-18 team before training with Real Salt Lake during preseason training camp.
Born in Chile, but raised in Layton, Utah, he joins Utah natives Sebastian Saucedo and Phanuel Kavita along with Lalo Fernandez, Justen Glad and Jordan Allen as RSL-Arizona Academy products signed to Real Salt Lake.
