Real Salt Lake hosts Philadelphia Union in 2015 home opener -

SANDY, Utah (Friday, December 19, 2014) – In conjunction with Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake has announced that it will open its 17-game regular season home schedule for the 2015 season against the Philadelphia Union at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, March 14.


RSL will open the club’s 11th campaign on the road against the Portland Timbers on March 7 before returning home to host the Union.

Real Salt Lake has enjoyed a pronounced home-field advantage since building its permanent home in Sandy, boasting an 88-17-29 mark on Utah soil since the beginning of 2008.  RSL owns the longest active playoff streak in MLS, at seven seasons, and in 2014 posted a league-record fifth consecutive campaign of 15+ wins and 50+ points.  RSL concluded 2014 with 16 consecutive sellouts at Rio Tinto Stadium, 18 overall in 20 home games last season and 23 capacity crowds in its last 28 games going back to August, 2013.


The 20th season in Major League Soccer will open on March 6 when the defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy hosts the Chicago Fire at the StubHub Center, launching the league into a new national television partnership with the ESPN, FOX and Univision networks.
