Kyle Beckerman’s week 2 long-range blast against the San Jose Earthquakes has earned the RSL midfielder a spot among the final 32 goals in the AT&T MLS Goal of the Year voting.
After surviving the first round of voting by finishing in the top two of his four-team group last week, Beckerman is now pitted against goals from LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and Seattle Sounders FC forwards Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins in Group 2 of the Second Round. Beckerman’s goal was a left-footed screamer from outside the box that skipped past goalkeeper Jon Busch for the first Salt Lake goal in a 3-3 draw with San Jose.
Voting runs through 12:59 am MT on Saturday with the top two vote-getters in each group will advance to the Semifinal Round.
