SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake’s Javier Morales has won MLS Goal of the Week!
Morales won the weekly honor for his first goal in has hat trick performance in RSL’s 5-2 win at Houston on Sunday. The Argentine midfielder scored 15 seconds into the game, chipping Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall from 20 yards out to put RSL up 1-0. Morales’ goal was the fastest strike in RSL history and the fourth-quickest strike in league history.
This is the first time that Morales has won Goal of the Week this year. It’s the second honor for RSL this year; Captain Kyle Beckerman won Goal of the Week for this swerving strike in the Claret-and-Cobalt’s 3-3 draw at San Jose on March 15.
Morales and the rest of the RSL squad will be back in action on Saturday, when they’ll host Colorado Rapids at 7:30 p.m. MT at Rio Tinto Stadium in the first leg of the 2014 Rocky Mountain Cup.
