Beckerman, Rimando and Gil train with RSL for first time in 2014

Kyle Beckerman v. Korea Republic - 02.01.14

IRVINE, Calif. - Real Salt Lake Captain Kyle Beckerman, goalkeeper Nick Rimando and midfielder Luis Gil joined the Claret-and-Cobalt in preseason camp on Monday in Irvine, Calif., training with the team for the first team this year after spending January with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Beckerman, Rimando and Gil all trained fully with the squad today in one of RSL’s final “double-day” sessions of the preseason. RSL defender Chris Schuler continued to make progress in preseason, as he put in his most strenuous training session of the preseason since undergoing foot surgery in December.

Beckerman, Rimando and Gil were all with the U.S. national team for its annual January training camp. The RSL trio trained with the USMNT for three-and-a-half weeks in Carson, Calif. and Sao Paulo, Brazil before beating Korea Republic 2-0 in an international friendly at StubHub Center on Feb. 1. All three of RSL’s American internationals featured for the U.S. against Korea, with Beckerman and Rimando playing the full 90 minutes and the 20-year-old Gil earning his first USMNT cap when he came on in the 75th minute.

Real Salt Lake will remain in Southern California until Thursday, training on Tuesday and Wednesday at Anteater Stadium in Irvine before taking on MLS foe Chivas USA in a closed-door scrimmage on Thursday at StubHub Center. RSL will return to Salt Lake City on Thursday evening, spending the weekend in Utah before departing for Arizona on Monday for the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup tournament.
