Morales named to All-Star Inactive Roster

Javier Morales v. LA Galaxy - 06.08.2013

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake MF Javier Morales was named on Wednesday to the 2013 MLS All-Star Inactive Roster. Morales is one of 12 players on the 2013 All-Star Inactive Roster, which was determined by a player vote and takes the total number of MLS All-Stars to a CBA-mandated 32 players.

Morales, 33, leads RSL and is tied for third in MLS with seven assists in league play and is tied for second on the Claret-and-Cobalt with five goals in regular season action. This is Morales’s third selection to the MLS All-Star roster after he was named to the active roster in 2009 and 2010. He is RSL’s fourth All-Star selection this year, joining active All-Stars Captain Kyle Beckerman, DF Tony Beltran and GK Nick Rimando on the overall roster.

Beckerman, Beltran, Rimando and the rest of the MLS All-Stars will take on Italian side AS Roma in the 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star Game at 7:00 p.m. MT at Sporting Park in Kansas City on Wednesday night. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and UniMas.

Beckerman, Beltran and Rimando will return to Salt Lake City after the game on Wednesday and – with the exception of Beltran, who will be serving a one-game red card suspension – will be available for selection in Saturday’s match at the rival Colorado Rapids. Saturday’s game – which RSL must win to retain its seventh-straight Rocky Mountain Cup Presented by Mark Miller Subaru – will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast live on ABC 4, ESPN 700 AM and 102.3 La Gran D FM/1600 AM.
