For the third time this season, a Real Salt Lake goalkeeper earned MLS Save of the Week honors. After Nick Rimando won the vote in Week 1 and Week 6, it was Jeff Attinella taking home the prize for his Week 8 stop against the New England Revolution.
Attinella made nine saves in the 4-0 defeat, but his save of Juan Aguedelo in the 53rd minute earned top honors for the week. On the play, Lee Nguyen hit the crossbar, then got his own rebound, held the ball while holding off a defender and played it back to Agudelo at the top of the box. His thundering shot was bound for the low corner before Attinella made the one-handed stop, parrying the ball wide.
In two starts this season, Attinella is 1-1-0 with 14 saves.
