In 2009, then Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Chris Seitz registered with DKMS to become a bone marrow donor as a gesture of support for teammate Andy Williams and his wife Marcia, who was battling a rare form of leukemia. In 2012, long after Marcia Williams found a match, Chris Seitz received an email letting him know he had a match. Chris put his playing career on hold and donated his bone marrow to a person he had never even met.
