Real Salt Lake midfielder Luis Gil and the U.S. Under-20 National Team qualified for this summer's FIFA U-20 World Cup on Tuesday, beating Canada 4-2 in a CONCACAF U-20 Championship Quarterfinal to advance to the World Cup in Turkey.

Gil scored the Stars-and-Stripes' first goal on Tuesday, collecting a Daniel Cuevas cross in the left side of the box, taking a touch and burying a 10-yard left-footer inside the far post. Gil was active throughout the game before coming off in the 77th minute.

U.S. Soccer is allowing Gil to return to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday ahead of RSL's MLS regular season opener at defending Supporters' Shield winners San Jose on Sunday. He will be available for selection for Claret-and-Cobalt Head Coach Jason Kreis in that match.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup will begin on June 21 and run until July 13.
