Welcome to the Real Salt Lake Youth Soccer Update. This regular release will include information on matches, tournaments, events and achievements involving RSL’s youth initiatives.


RSL-AZ TEAMS STAY UNDEFEATED AFTER SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND IN SAN DIEGO

The Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-18 and U-16 teams kept their unbeaten records intact this weekend, with the U-18’s picking up two wins and the U-16’s earning one win and one draw.


The U-18 team cruised in both of its matches, beating San Diego Surf 2-0 on Saturday before downing Nomads SC 3-0 on Sunday. Benji Lopez led the way for RSL-AZ, scoring three goals over the weekend – one against San Diego Surf, two against Nomads SC – to help the team improve to 4-0-1 on the Developmental Academy season.


The U-16’s also played well in San Diego, downing the Surf 4-1 on Saturday and tying Nomads SC 1-1 on Sunday. Moises Rodriguez was the standout performer for the U-16’s, notching two goals and two assists over the weekend to help his team move to 4-0-1 on the year.


RSL-AZ U-16 FW SEBASTIAN SAUCEDO EARNS USSDA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-16 FW Sebastian Saucedo was named on Oct. 4 the USSDA Player of the Week for Week 4. Saucedo – a Park City, Utah native – was honored for his hat trick performance in the U-16’s 7-2 win over the Chivas USA U-16’s on Sept. 29.


A U.S. U-15 Boy’s National Team pool player, Saucedo has five goals through the first five matches of the U.S. Developmental Academy season.

ABOUT THE U.S. SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

The U.S Soccer Development Academy is a nationwide youth development initiative, organized by the U.S. Soccer Federation, featuring 78 of the top youth teams in the country competing in a league system at both the U-18 and U-16 levels. The 78 youth programs, including one U.S. Youth National Team in each age group, are divided into 10 geographically based divisions, each of which will send a single qualifier to the national finals after the regular season concludes in late June.
