REAL SALT LAKE GAMEDAY EVENTS: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 V. PHILADELPHIA UNION
KFC Presents 7:00 p.m. MT Match-Up as the Claret-and-Cobalt and Union Jockey for Playoff Positioning

SANDY, Utah (Friday, September 2, 2011) – After a three-game road trip, Real Salt Lake (11-7-6, 39 pts.; 5th in West) will return home and look to improve on its current playoff standing this Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Utah side will play host to the Philadelphia Union (8-6-10, 35 pts.; 4th in East) at Rio Tinto Stadium. The 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff between the pair of playoff contenders will be presented by KFC, and tickets for the clash remain available and can be purchased in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office beginning at 10:00 a.m. on gameday, over the phone at 801-727-2700 or online at www.RealSaltLake.com.

Real Salt Lake and the Union are both currently battling for playoff positioning, as both sides have 10 game remaining on their regular season schedules. If the season ended today, RSL and the Union would finish in the second and third wild card slots, respectively, despite RSL standing five points clear of Philadelphia on MLS’ overall table. Saturday’s contest was originally scheduled back on April 23, but was postponed to allow the Utah side to prepare for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Final at Rio Tinto Stadium against Monterrey; tickets for the original April 23 date will be honored at the Rio Tinto Stadium gates on Saturday.

Saturday’s match will mark the first time Union newcomer Freddy Adu will return to Utah since he suited up for RSL during the 2007 campaign. Adu represented the Claret-and-Cobalt on 11 occasions and recorded a goal and two assists after coming to the Wasatch Front in the same offseason trade with D.C. United that also brought GK Nick Rimando to RSL.

Only Club Seat and Suite holders will have access to this exclusive signing period; Club Seat tickets for the match remain available and can be purchased on gameday at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT.
