SANDY, Utah (Friday, July 29, 2011) – Following a blowout 4-0 win last Saturday, Real Salt Lake (9-3-6, 33 pts.; 4th in West) will host Eastern Conference co-leaders Columbus Crew (8-6-7, 31 pts.; T-1st in East) on Saturday, July 30 at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff, presented by Hoopes Vision, is slated for 7:00 p.m. MT with Carnival Real beginning at 5:00 p.m. MT.

RSL “Game Note” of the Match: Saborío Gets Hot
With his two tallies last Saturday against San Jose Earthquakes, FW Álvaro Saborío overtook fellow forward Fabián Espíndola (six goals in MLS) to lead the team with seven goals, all of which have come in the last five games. The stoic Costa Rican forward will seek to continue his stellar form against a solid Crew defense that has allowed just under one goal per game (.95). No matter who he’s matched up with up top, expect to see a ferocious performance from the Costa Rican international.
RSL History v. Columbus Crew
With an overall record of 4-8-1 against MLS originals Columbus Crew, RSL will need to bring their best. Despite a seemingly lopsided record, RSL has a perfect 2-0-0 record against the Crew at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The Claret-and-Cobalt’s successful 2009 MLS Cup run began with a home-and-home fixture against the Crew, who won the Supporter’s Shield regular season title that year. As underdogs, RSL managed an upset win to start their road to MLS Cup victory.
In last year’s historic CONCACAF Champions League run, RSL beat the Columbus Crew in a blowout match at Rio Tinto Stadium to put the Utah side through to the Quarterfinal round.
