Dev. Academy Roundup: CASL Chelsea sweep

It’s not every weekend that a USSF Development Academy side hits the road and comes away with four wins in two days, but CASL Chelsea managed just that this past weekend with a perfect 4-0 record at both age levels.

Heading north to Virginia, the CASL U-16s squeaked past McLean Youth Soccer 1-0, but not before the U-18s dominated in a 5-0 win. Monbo Bokar grabbed a hat trick for CASL.

Down in Richmond, CASL scored the same success against the Strikers. The U-16s secured a duplicate result, winning 1-0, while the U-18s were once again the better side in a 4-1 win – Bokar adding another goal for a four-goal haul on the weekend.

A few MLS teams' academies were in action as well. Of the trio of New England, San Jose and Real Salt Lake, the Quakes had the best of the action, posting a 3-1 record.

On Saturday, the Quakes' youth team traveled to Riverside, Calif., and defeated Arsenal FC – the U-18s winning 4-0 and the U-16s winning 1-0. The only blemish on the weekend came against fellow MLS academy opposition, as Real Salt Lake’s U-18s won 2-0. The Quakes U-16s avenged the loss by winning 2-1 in San Jose’s last game of the weekend.

The Revolution’s academy took to the field for the first time in 2011, splitting a full weekend slate as the U-18s lost two and the U-16s won two against NJSA 04 and Match Fit Chelsea.
