Week 23 Power Rankings

A rain soaked RFK Stadium was the sight of RSL’s Week 23 matchup against D.C. United, the last match RSL will play at the storied stadium. After a 24-hour weather delay that pushed the remaining hour of the match to Sunday the Claret-and-Cobalt left the Nation’s Capitol with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Luis Silva volley. With the shutout victory over D.C., Mike Petke’s side is now unbeaten in six games and holds three straight road victories to its name. Check out the latest rankings and tell us what you think below:

“Quietly unbeaten in six and three points out of the sixth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, an ugly win over the course of two days in D.C. will do just fine. Mike Petke knows it’s put-up-or-shut-up time with nine games left (tied for the fewest in MLS) to earn a shot at the Cup. The freakin’ pressure is on.”

“RSL handled the strangeness of the rain delay in D.C. and benefited from a United error to score a 1-0 win on the road.”

“Real Salt Lake’s rise continues! Head coach Mike Petke has now overseen a six-game unbeaten run, extended this week by a 1–0 win at D.C. United. Salt Lake had to deal with a 24-hour rain delay in addition to the lengthy travel time, so that’s an impressive win no matter how badly D.C. is playing at the moment.”
