“Sabo” Goes to “Ticos” for Paraguay Friendly

Robbie Findley isn’t the only Real Salt Lake forward reporting for national team duty this week, as strike mate Alvaro Saborio has departed the Claret-and-Cobalt to join the Costa Rican National Team for its friendly at Paraguay on Wednesday evening. Saborio will look to make his first appearance for the “Ticos” since joining Real Salt Lake back in March, and hope to build upon the 22-goal haul he’s achieved from his thus-far 55-game senior international career.

While the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is far off in the distance, the time to impress starts now for Saborio, who figures to play a huge role for Costa Rica as it begins to piece together a squad that will begin CONCACAF region qualifying next year. This cycle will likely be the last for the 28-year-old Saborio, and he certainly would like to tack on some more World Cup memories to build on his experience with the Ticos back at Germany 2006.

For fans that want to “double-dip” their viewing pleasure on Wednesday evening, the Costa Rica-Paraguay friendly from Asuncion will be streamed live on FIFA.com beginning at 5:30 p.m. MT … yes, exactly in line with the start of the RSL-Philly game. So fire up the TV and the laptop to keep tabs on your Claret-and-Cobalt AND the Red & Blue of Costa Rica on Wednesday night!
