SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, June 30, 2010)Real Salt Lake (7-3-3, 24 pts.; 2nd in West) will defend its home turf of Rio Tinto Stadium once again this Friday, July 2, when the Utah side will look to continue its eight-game MLS undefeated run and 17-match home unbeaten streak in League play against the New England Revolution (3-8-2, 11 pts.; 6th in East). Kickoff in Sandy for the defending MLS Cup champs’ annual Independence Day Weekend contest is set for 8:00 p.m. MT to accommodate the night’s Post-game Fireworks Celebration, which along with the cross-conference affair will be presented by Les Olson Company.
Tickets for Friday’s RSL-Revolution match are still available online at www.RealSaltLake.com and www.RioTintoStadium.com, over the phone at 801-727-2702, and in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on weekdays and beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT on gameday. Friday night’s contest will not be televised locally, but fans that can’t make it down to Sandy can follow the action live by tuning into RSL’s official radio partners – KALL 700 Sports (English), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM and Homero 106.1-FM (Spanish) – or by checking into RSL’s Official Twitter feed, located at www.Twitter.com/RealSaltLake.
Real Salt Lake and New England will hold the first of their two meetings this season under the Friday night lights in Sandy, with RSL looking to even up the all-time regular season series it currently trails by a 3-4-3 margin (2-2-1 in home contests). The RSL faithful will look back quite fondly to the last match-up between the two sides at Rio Tinto Stadium last April 25, when the Claret-and-Cobalt used a historic six-goal second half outburst to post a 6-0 win that marked the largest margin of victory and most goals scored in a match for the Utah side. Real Salt Lake and New England will close out their 2010 home-and-away slate when RSL travels to Foxborough for an early-fall kickoff at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 2.
