It’s a primary day at the polls today in the fine states of Oregon
and Arkansas and those wacky Commonwealths of Kentucky and Pennsylvania
… but really, who cares about politics anyways? Besides, only one of
those areas even has an MLS team (well, at least this year), and
there’s not even any stadium referendums to pass in those places, so
we’re focusing our attention on a different kind of poll that just
opened up today and is eligible not just for Americans, but soccer fans
the world over – the fan voting for the 2010 Major League Soccer
All-Star Game against that little-known team from Manchester that wears
red. That’s right, fan voting for the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star First
XI is now live and can be done in a couple of ways:
- Heading online via the technology of your choice and visiting http://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star
- And, for the first time in League history, fans may also vote by texting a last name from the ballot to “22442.” Additionally, fans can text an MLS club name to “22442” to vote for all nominees from that team.
Fan voting will comprise one quarter of the total vote for the First
XI selections, with MLS players, coaches & GM’s, and media each
accounting for one of the other three quarters. And remember for
planning purposes that the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star Game at Reliant
Stadium in Houston takes place on Wednesday, July 28 (live on ESPN2 and
TeleFutura at 6:30 p.m. MT).
