Monarchs Woes at Home Continue

Telling Stats: The 5-3 result stands as the highest scoring game of the Monarchs season with eight total goals scored between the two teams. It also is the first time that Jamison Olave’s side have been able to put up a multi goal game against Dynamo 2 in all MLS NEXT Pro matchups. This was the second time this season that the Monarchs conceded five goals, and the first time at home.

What You Missed: The Monarchs kicked off against Houston Dynamo 2, taking the early lead when Amferny Sinclair stole the ball from the Houston player and from just outside the 18-yard-box he took a low driven shot at goal which slipped past the Dynamo 2 keeper into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Monarchs the advantage in the ninth minute of play.

Dynamo 2 would go on to tie the game back up in the 20th minute of play as Papa Ndoye found the ball out wide, just outside the six-yard-box and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Tomas Gomez. Jude Wellings put the Monarchs up, once again, in the first minute of extra-time after he picked up a loose ball in the box, the result of a deflected shot from Illijah Paul. The Monarchs would go into the halftime break with the 2-1 lead.

After the commencement of the second half in the 49th minute, Dynamo 2 was once again able to tie the game back up at 2-2 as Isaiah Reid got the lucky deflection off the far post to put the ball in the opposite side netting. Cayne Madhlangove put the Monarchs on top 3-2, once again, in the 57th minute of play with a soaring shot from outside the 18-yard-box. Just a minute later Dynamo 2 was awarded a penalty kick after a tough tackle by Bobby Pierre, in which Papa Ndoye got his brace and the game was tied once again.

A few minutes later Dynamo 2 took its first lead of the game as Isaiah Reid got his brace and he put his side up 4-3. Dynamo 2 would go on to get their fifth as Papa Ndoye bagged a hattrick in the 84th minute, solidifying the victory for the visiting side.
