Man of the Match: Midfielder Tyrone Mondi scored his sixth goal of the season, tying him for the team’s golden boot race with midfielder Pedro Fonseca. Mondi has been on a goal-scoring tear of late, finding the back of the net four times in the last six MLS NEXT Pro matches, and six times in the last eight matches across all competitions. The South African led the team in shots and shots on target with five and two respectively.

Telling Stat: Forward Axel Kei recorded his third assist of the season, putting him in sole possession of the Club-lead in assists. Kei’s three assists have all come in the last three matches with two leading to forward Terron Williams’ first two professional goals and the third helping the Monarchs earn their second point on the road this season. Additionally, the 14-year-old RSL Homegrown has been dynamic in the attack since joining the Monarchs, earning his first two professional goals to add to the assists this season.

Forward Axel Kei found midfielder Tyrone Mondi for the opening goal in the 28th minute, but Minnesota equalized before the half. In the penalty shootout, the Monarchs were denied on three straight attempts, giving MNUFC2 the extra point as the home side won the shootout 3-1.
