Man of the Match: Despite the loss, goalkeeper Jeff Dewsnup came up big on several occasions to keep the Monarchs within striking distance of New Mexico United. The young goalkeeper made a career-high seven saves, including a penalty-kick save in the second half after Devon Sandoval stepped up to the spot. In addition, Dewsnup recorded a clearance and an interception.

Telling Stat: New Mexico United pressed the Monarchs defense heavily throughout the match, earning 60.6% of possession on the night. The possession advantage for the home side turned into 26 total shots, more than tripling the Monarchs total of seven.
