They Knock Us Down, We Get Up Again
Last Friday against the Houston Dash MF Gunny Jónsdóttir netted her first goal since the club’s first-ever match on March 24, 2018 against the Orlando Pride, the goal marked only her second goal with Utah Royals FC. The lone goal for Utah in the 2-1 loss to the Dash was assisted by MF Erika Tymrak, marking her second assist for the club. The loss was the teams first since August 3, ending the longest unbeaten streak in franchise history after five games without a defeat

Something in the Water
Last time against Reign FC Utah was victorious behind three goals from three different players. FW Katie Stengel opened scoring in the third minute when she collected a deflected shot. MF Lo’eau LaBonta netted the team’s second, single-handedly dribbling the ball up the offensive half of the field to chip the Reign FC goalkeeper. Finally, FW Amy Rodriguez pounced on a poorly collected shot from Reign goalkeeper Casey Murphy to finish off the match 3-1 in favor of Utah.

Wednesday’s match is one of four remaining regular-season competitions for the 2019 season. Currently Royals FC sits in fourth place in the NWSL, but is tied with Reign FC at 31 points apiece. In order to secure a place in the league semifinals URFC’s magic number is 12 points – any combination of points gained by Utah or lost by Reign FC totaling 12 points will assure a postseason berth for Royals FC. If the club is able to remain above the playoff line it will mark the first postseason appearance in franchise history and the third for Head Coach Laura Harvey
