Ten Reasons to Come to the RioT: No. 4

Real Salt Lake is just four days (4!!!!!!!) away from the 2017 MLS regular season opener against Toronto FC.  As we go through the numerous reasons to get out to Rio Tinto Stadium for that match and the 16 other regular season matches on the calendar, we look to Costa Rica for the No. 4 reason.

That is where the U.S. U-20 National Team is taking on the top countries in the region in the CONCACAF U-20 Championships.  Already that has put Real Salt Lake front and center, as four players on the 20-man U.S. roster play for RSL and a fifth is an additional product of Real Salt Lake’s Academy.

Justen Glad, Danny Acosta, Sebastian Saucedo and Brooks Lennon climbed through RSL’s youth system through different paths that have led all of them to the first team in 2017.  Having them in the Claret-and-Cobalt and Red-White-and-Blue during such a crucial year for the U-20 age group on the international level will be huge for RSL in the short-term and long-term.

While that foursome won’t be available to RSL on Saturday for the opener, the future of the organization is on sturdy shoulders with them continuing to progress down a path that could have them starring for the first team and the senior national team before we know it.

See them on their rise to the top throughout the year at the RioT.
