Real Salt Lake Kicks Off Training Camp in Arizona

Casa Grande Day 1

With the sound of a beep from the portable stereo system on the field in Casa Grande, Arizona, Real Salt Lake kicked off training camp for the 2017 season.

With just two players absent from the opening session – Nick Rimando is away with the U.S. National Team and newly-signed midfielder Albert Rusnák is awaiting visa approval – and several players in from Real Monarchs, it was a big group on the field.  After a warmup, the team endured the annual – and often dreaded – beep test to gauge fitness.

It was a good end to a busy first day, as the team boarded a plane from Salt Lake City in the late morning and drove from Phoenix to Casa Grande, where the Claret-and-Cobalt will call home until Saturday.

The team is scheduled to hold two training sessions each day this week until an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday concludes the Casa Grande leg of training camp and RSL transitions into the next stage in Tucson.
