With one round now behind him, Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando now enters the Round of 16 in the MLS Save of the Year voting when his unbelievable save against the Houston Dynamo in Week 9 advanced through the first round over the weekend.
In the home victory over the Houston Dynamo, a ball pinged off the post to Andrew Wenger at the edge of the six-yard box. He rocketed his putback attempt and Rimando was in perfect position to make the reaction save – albeit with his face – to preserve the victory.
Rimando finished the season with an 11-9-10 record and broke numerous league records throughout the season, including becoming that all-time leader in wins, now with 183 in his illustrious career.
