Chick-Fil-A Grants Child's Wish Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium

Make A Wish 0825

SALT LAKE CITY, UT— As soccer fans pour into Rio Tinto Stadium Friday night, they will be cheering on more than just the Real Salt Lake team. In partnership with Chick-fil-A, Make-A-Wish® Utah (MAWU) will surprise seven-year-old Sawyer with the news that his wish to go to Walt Disney World® is coming true.

The announcement is scheduled to take place on-field, during halftime of the game on Friday, August 26 at approximately 6:45 p.m. at the Rio Tinto Stadium: 9256 State St, Sandy, UT 84070.

Following the first half of the game, Sawyer and his family will be called onto the field where soccer-loving Sawyer will have the chance to kick a goal against a Chick-Fil-A Cow goalie. After his kick, RSL’s Leo the Lion, , will enter the field with balloons and a proclamation scroll that will announce to Sawyer his wish is being granted. Again, the presentation is expected to take place around 6:45 p.m.

A Draper-native, Sawyer is a huge soccer fan and has always enjoyed playing the sport. Unfortunately, a cancer diagnosis has left him unable to play as often as he’d like as he recovers from treatments. Sawyer declared his wish with MAWU in June, and has eagerly been awaiting approval ever since.

“It is our responsibility to make the wishes we grant as unique as the child that wishes them, and we think this is the start of many memories from Sawyer’s wish experience that he will cherish for life,” said Jared Perry, CEO of Make-A-Wish® Utah. “We are very excited for the opportunity to partner with such a great organization like Chick-fil-A in bringing hope, strength, and joy to Sawyer’s journey.”
