Power Rankings: RSL Takes Another Dip

Mohawk at Rio Tinto Stadium

Each week we take a look at how the experts view Real Salt Lake in relation to the rest of the league with their weekly power rankings.  RSL lost 2-0 at Vancouver and played to a scoreless draw with New England last week – remaining unbeaten at home, but leaving points on the table in a difficult week.  Here is how the experts place the Claret-and-Cobalt this week.

MLSsoccer.com – 7
“RSL endured a long road trip and then had a home-heavy slate that should have been a ladder up to the top of the standings. They've not made the most of it, and probably need to start thinking about the red line that's creeping toward them.”

ESPNFC.com – 12
“Real Salt Lake have just three points from the past five matches, and it's starting to do damage to the club's standing in the Western Conference. A flat attack isn't helping.”

SI.com – 8
“For a team that has built so much of its recent success on a stellar home record at Rio Tinto Stadium, Real Salt Lake’s recent indifferent form there may be cause for concern. Each of the Royals’ last three home games have ended in draws, with Saturday’s 0–0 draw against New England perhaps the most frustrating of the bunch. However, RSL still hasn’t lost at home this season, so a 1–2–4 record since the Copa America break hasn’t hurt the team as much as you might think.”

Where would you place the Claret-and-Cobalt after remaining unbeaten at home with the draw against New England?  Will SI succeed in making "The Royals" a thing?  Give your views in the comments section below.
