Power Rankings: RSL Splits the Pundits

Tony Beltran vs DC 0701

Each week we take a look at how the experts view Real Salt Lake in relation to the rest of the league with their weekly power rankings.  After a 1-1 draw at home against D.C. United on Friday, RSL reached the halfway point in the season with an 8-5-4 record, good for third-best in MLS both on points and points per game.  Here is how those experts place the Claret-and-Cobalt this week.

MLSsoccer.com – 3
“They've been far from perfect, and coughing up points at Rio Tinto for the second time in three games is an issue. With a home-heavy schedule from here on out, they'll have to figure out how to make front-foot soccer work.”

ESPNFC.com – 9
“RSL has been better than expected this season, but if they're going to keep pace in the West they can't afford to give up second half stoppage time goals to visiting teams like D.C. United.”

Where would you place the Claret-and-Cobalt after remaining unbeaten at home with the draw against D.C.?  Do you agree with ESPNFC ranking RSL below Sporting KC after twice beating SKC in their own building?  Give your views in the comments section below.
