Power Rankings: RSL Dips After Second Straight Loss

Each week we take a look at how the experts view Real Salt Lake in relation to the rest of the league with their weekly power rankings.  Two straight 1-0 road losses have Real Salt Lake dropping in the rankings, but just how much stock does the powers that be put in narrow road losses over a 10-game stretch?  After a 1-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo on Sunday, let’s take a look at the thoughts from around the internet.

“It's fair for fans to question the play of Tony Beltran and Jamison Olave on Giles Barnes's goal, and to wonder why the midfield struggles to control games. But we're not writing any of this if Yura Movsisyan buries his chances.”

SI.com – 4
“Real Salt Lake found itself on the bad end of the most surprising result of the weekend, falling 1-0 to the Houston Dynamo on Sunday. RSL was held without a shot on goal, a surprising and disappointing stat for a team with as much attacking talent as RSL. More worrying will be the nature of the shots off target–both Yura Movsisyan and Olmes Garcia missed sitters.”

ESPNFC.com – 7
“Those early season doubts about RSL are getting new run in light of some bad recent results. A loss to the lowly Dynamo, especially without scoring, is a bad look for the team from Utah.”
