His night may have been short on Saturday, but Juan Manuel Martinez made the most of it, scoring his second goal in as many matches. Also for the second straight week, Martinez is up for AT&T Goal of the Week for his effort.
After RSL had seen a barrage of shots from the Galaxy from the opening whistle, Martinez got Salt Lake on the board first in the 16th minute. On the play, Luke Mulholland sent a long cross in from the right sideline, finding Martinez at the far post. He skied above LA defender A.J. DeLaGarza and flicked a header past Brian Rowe for the goal, earning a nomination among the top eight goals scored this week.
Martinez, who was limited to just 23 minutes because of a quad injury, has two goals and two assists in six matches this season.
