Justen Glad did his job and then some last Saturday night. The 19-year old former RSL-AZ Academy player brought his “A” game to the pitch in a crucial match for RSL. Last weekend, Real played rival Sporting Kansas City in Kansas without their usual lineup. With some out for injury and others out for disciplinary action, the young guys were called up to take part in the action.

With that said, and with all that pressure, Glad excelled. Not only did he impress his teammates but also Head Coach Jeff Cassar, Mike Sorensen from the Desert News reported.
“Justen is a mature young man, both on the field and off the field,” Cassar said in the article. “He’s been waiting patiently. When he gets his opportunity, he’s made the most of it. That’s all you can ask for. I couldn’t be more happy for him and more proud of him.”
Tony Beltran, who wore the captain’s armband last Saturday, was also impressed by his young teammate.
“A lot impressed me about Justen Glad. He’s a tremendous young man and has a good head on his shoulders. You know, all these kids coming out of the academy have such technical ability, they’re so sound on the ball, so composed and that’s what impressed me about Justen the most. His composure on the ball and his ability to play in these big games to embrace the moment, you saw that the other night where he gets the first goal and more importantly on the defensive end has a very sound game.”
