In his 26 career regular season appearances for Real Salt Lake, goalkeeper Jeff Attinella has proven to be a savvy shot-stopper. That was on display on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park when he recorded two saves to earn the victory, one of which is up for the MLSsoccer.com Save of the Week.
In the 44th minute, Kansas City worked the ball from left to right at midfield before springing forward. Brad Davis got in behind the defense up the right side of the box and found Dom Dwyer streaking at the near post, but Attinella made a point-blank stop on Kansas City’s leading scorer to keep him off the board. That save enters him in the tournament-style bracket for Week 5 as he vies for the first Save of the Week title in 2016.
