The 2015 Waiver Draft gets underway today with 25 players on the list. These players are guys that had their contract options declined by their clubs. But, they are still under contract with the league.
Weston Jenson, a writer for RSL Soapbox, went into detail today about who RSL might be looking at, noting that the position the club will probably need filled is a center back.
“So, who fits this billet? Well . . . only one player really in Emanuel Pogatetz. In his second season with the Columbus Crew (first full season with the club), Pogatetz has, at times, made his presence known for the Crew in a total of 19 appearances but at times was made to look like a school boy. Still, playing with the MLS Cup runner-ups is definitely something,” Weston wrote.
The Waiver Draft will occur over conference call at 2:30 p.m. MT.
