Garcia Reaches the Quarterfinals in AT&T Goal of the Year voting

Olmes Garcia celebration vs Crew

Olmes Garcia’s finish on Real Salt Lake’s superbly played set piece against the Columbus Crew has advanced to the Quarterfinal Round after topping MLS Rookie of the Year Cyle Larin in the Round of 16.  Now voting is open to push the goal through to the Semifinal Round in the AT&T MLS Goal of the Year voting.

Four RSL goals were in the initial bracket of 64 of the league’s top goals from 2015, but Devon Sandoval’s running left-footed curler against Montreal and two stunners from Javier Morales were all eliminated in the first two rounds.

Now with just “The Annexation of Puerto Rico” (as it was penned by RSL Video Guru Tyler Gibbons) remaining, the Claret-and-Cobalt faithful can focus their support on the great goal from Garcia.  On the set piece goal against the Columbus Crew, Luke Mulholland played the ball to the top of the box to Kyle Beckerman who touched a pass wide to Joao Plata.  He then sent it back across the goal mouth for Garcia to touch it into the net for a tremendous team goal.
