Save of the Year: Rimando Advances to Round 2

The MLSsoccer.com Save of the Year tournament has advanced to the second round and Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando had three saves advance.

Rimando outlasted Jeff Attinella in all three of his saves that moved on to the second round, but came up short in his other matchup against Steve Clark of the Columbus Crew.

Now, the Wall of the Wasatch will have two of his own saves going head-to-head while his third will go up against Clark with a berth in the quarterfinals on the line.

Rimando’s saves include his kick-save against Houston’s Ricardo Clark, a point-blank stop on Rodney Wallace to shut out the Portland Timbers and a stunning save on Chris Wondolowski in San Jose.
