For the second time this season, Jeff Attinella has won the MLS Save of the Week honors, running away with the vote after his second-half stop of Jacob Peterson in Real Salt Lake’s 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City last week.
Attinella won in convincing fashion, taking 51.12-percent of the vote to just 14.74-percent for the second-place finisher, former RSL keeper Josh Saunders.
Attinella’s previous win came in Week 8 against the New England Revolution, a match that saw him make nine saves in a losing effort. He was serving in a starting role in the last month while Nick Rimando was away with the U.S. National Team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Attinella now has a 3-2-1 regular season record and a 6-2-1 record across all competitions. It was his fourth Save of the Week honor in the last two seasons.
