Power Rankings: RSL inches up after win over SKC

Sebastian Jaime celebration vs SKC 0621

Each week pundits around the web rank the 20 teams in Major League Soccer in their own power rankings.

Here at RealSaltLake.com, we like to see where each of those experts places Real Salt Lake and after a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on a stoppage-time goal from Olmes Garcia, RSL inched up the rankings on all three of the sites we monitor each week.  Although the club’s record ranks 10th in MLS’s Supporters’ Shield standings, SI.com is the most generous to RSL in the Power Rankings at No. 13.

MLSsoccer.com – 14

“Played with a focus and ruthlessness that's been largely missing this season, and got actual goals from actual forwards. That had to be a nice change for the RSL faithful.”

ESPNFC.com – 15

“Sure, Sebastian Jaime's first goal for RSL in the 15th minute was a lucky deflection off the foot of Sporting defender Kevin Ellis. Jeff Cassar and company won't care though, after Olmes García game-winner came late in injury time in a 2-1 win. Now, there's real hope in Sandy that such an uplifting victory can help turn a disappointing season around.”

SI.com – 13

“With his two assists against Sporting Kansas City, Javier Morales has been involved in over half of the team’s 15 goals in 2015 with three goals and five assists.”
