After giving up a goal and the lead at the end of the first half, Real Salt Lake rebounded with a goal from Joao Plata and then another goal from Javier Morales to take the lead and the victory.
Conner Johnson of the Deseret News writes, “Real Salt Lake avoided a colossal mishap Tuesday evening at home, finding a pair of second half goals to come back and defeat Seattle Sounders 2 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup 2-1.”
“It’s not about being an individual, it’s about the team and we’re going to need that forward,” RSL Head Coach Jeff Cassar said in Johnson’s article. “I think collectively the guys stepped up. I thought our substitutions brought energy and quality.”
