News Stand: RSL still searching for itself

Team vs. Kansas City 0411

News Stand 5/20/15

After last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to the Montreal Impact, and a season of inconsistent results, injuries, and formation changes, Real Salt Lake is still looking to find its identity 11 games into the season.

This is unfamiliar territory for a franchise and its fans that are used to being one of the top teams in the league. Defender Tony Beltran said, “It’s a little bit strange at this point of the season, especially.”  Beltran continues saying, “There’s highs and lows in every season.”

Chris Kamrani of the SL Tribune writes, “Rio Tinto Stadium hasn’t seen the normal results from the home team like in years past.”  However, Goalkeeper Nick Rimando still has a good perspective and positive outlook on the season. “Winning two or three games in a row will get you right back up top.” Rimando continues, “This league is so up and down that anybody can beat anybody.”

“Injuries, call-ups and tinkered playing styles have played their roles in the adjustment period that continues for RSL,” writes Kamrani. As the season goes on, and the lineup becomes more consistent, RSL and the fans hope the results can become more consistent as well.
