News Stand: Defensive struggles for RSL

Team vs Montreal 0516

News Stand 5/18/15

Real Salt Lake’s road woes continue with a 4-1 loss vs Montreal, heading into Saturday’s game RSL was building momentum and riding a three game unbeaten streak, but all that momentum was taken away quickly in the first half on Saturday.

Chris Kamrani of the Salt Lake Tribune writes, “Most disconcerting about Saturday’s outing at Montreal was the further struggles of RSL’s overall defense. After notching three straight road shutouts to start 2015, RSL has now conceded nine goals in its last three matches away from Rio Tinto.”

Head Coach Jeff Cassar said, “You can’t take a day off in the MLS.”

It looks as if the coach was right. Right back Tony Beltran said, “You always have to learn from your mistakes – from you losses – and move forward.” He continues, “You have to have a short memory in soccer.”

After having defensive struggles on the road in two of the last three games, RSL looks to improve and move on from this loss and to get their defense back on track. To read the full article by Chris Kamrani of the Salt Lake Tribune and other news about Real Salt Lake, click the links below.
