News Stand: RSL hopes to build momentum with scoring drought now in the past

Saborio vs Chicago 0509

Newsstand 5/11/15

The Real Salt Lake scoring drought is finally over.  So writes Chris Kamrani in the Salt Lake Tribune after RSL ended its 510-minute streak without a goal – although an own-goal did earn the club a draw against the San Jose Earthquakes amidst that streak – in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday.

Now, Kamrani wrote in Sunday’s edition, RSL will look to build on that scoring momentum on Saturday against the Montreal Impact.

As important as the goals were that one came from forward Alvaro Saborio, his first from the run of play this season and second overall.

"I kind of had a good angle on [the shot]," RSL captain Kyle Beckerman said. "It really felt good to see it go in. Definitely whenever you see one of your forwards scoring, you hope it's more to come after."
