MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends Stertzer one game

Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that the MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Real Salt Lake midfielder John Stertzer one game and fined the player an undisclosed amount for serious foul play in the 10th minute of RSL’s match against New England Revolution on Saturday.  Stertzer, who was making his first start of the season in the match against New England, will be unavailable for Friday’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes and is eligible to return for the match on May 6 against the LA Galaxy.


Stertzer, 24, is in his third season with Real Salt Lake.  He has played 16 matches, including five this season, playing 78 minutes this year.


The MLS Disciplinary Committee reviews all games and all incidents that occur during regular season and MLS Cup Playoff games.
