RSL duo earns call-ups to U.S. U-18 National Team for European friendlies

SANDY, UtahReal Salt Lake announced on Monday that U.S. U-18 National Team Head Coach Javier Perez has included two of its players – DF Justen Glad and MF Sebastian Saucedo – in the 20-man roster for the training camp.  The team will hold training camp from April 22-May 1 in Mdugorje, Bosnia, and will play three friendlies against Siroki Brijeg on April 25 and the Bosnia U-18s on April 28 and April 30.


Both Glad and Saucedo are products of the highly-successful Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy in Casa Grande, Ariz., who were signed by RSL last season.


Saucedo has appeared in two matches off the bench for Real Salt Lake thus far this season, but also played in two matches with Real Monarchs – RSL’s USL affiliate.  The Park City, Utah, native scored 50 goals in two seasons with the RSL-AZ Academy.


Glad returned to action this year after missing a stretch at the end of last season with a knee injury.  He has played three matches with Real Monarchs, totaling 270 minutes while scoring the club’s first home goal in a 1-1 draw with Portland Timbers 2. 


In addition to the two RSL players, RSL-AZ FW Brooks Lennon was also included on Perez’s roster.


Earlier this year, the U-18’s competed in the 2015 Copa Chivas Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they played Monarcas Morelia, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, Club Tijuana and Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica, finishing with a record of 1-2-1 in the competition.
