Chris Schuler Undergoes Successful Meniscus Surgery

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has announced that DF Chris Schuler will miss after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus in his right knee on Monday.  RSL Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Andrew Cooper performed Monday’s surgery at a Sports Med Utah facility at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.


The 27-year-old center back is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.


“I’m pleased to say that Chris’ surgery went very well today,” Cooper said.  “He and I have worked through injuries over the years.  He's tough and I think he'll fight through this and do very well and be playing fairly soon."


Schuler is in his sixth season with RSL, starting in 71 matches since coming in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft in 2010.  Last season, he started a career-high 25 matches.


Real Salt Lakes is 2-1-3 (9 points) on the season and will face the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.  Schuler started the first four matches, with RSL going 2-0-2 in those matches.
