Reserves Recap: RSL 0-1 LA Galaxy II

RSL Reserves at LA Galaxy II - 08.27.14

CARSON, Calif. – The Real Salt Lake Reserves (1-2-4, 7 points) gave up a first half goal to fall 1-0 to USL PRO's LA Galaxy II (14-7-5, 47 points) at StubHub Center’s Track & Field Stadium on Wednesday.

LA Galaxy II scored the game's lone goal in the 20th minute through FW Charlie Rugg. Galaxy II MF Andre Auras started the play, sending a free kick into the box that Rugg headed past RSL GK Lalo Fernandez for the lead.

Shortly into the second half, Auras nearly doubled the score on a free kick from just outside the 18 yard box. Rugg was fouled on the edge of the area, and Auras stepped up and launched a shot that had Fernandez beat, but the shot bounced off the goalpost and out of play.

In goal, Los Dos earned a shutout behind Cody Laurendi and Brian Perk, each putting in a half for Galaxy II, to hold holding Real Salt Lake scoreless. Galaxy II defense held the Claret-and-Cobalt to just five shots the entire match.

The Real Salt Lake first team returns MLS action on Saturday, when it heads to California to take on San Jose Earthquakes at 8:30 p.m. MT. Saturday’s match will be broadcast locally on CW30, ESPN 700 AM and 102.3 La Gran D FM.
