RSL MF Jordan Allen out for season after undergoing successful microfracture surgery

Jordan Allen - Media Day 2014

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has announced that MF Jordan Allen will miss the rest of the 2014 season after undergoing successful microfracture surgery on his right knee on Thursday. RSL Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Andrew Cooper performed Thursday’s surgery at a Sports Med Utah facility at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.

Signed this offseason as a Homegrown player after playing one season at the University of Virginia, Allen made two appearances for the RSL first team in 2014, coming on as a second half sub in both of the Claret-and-Cobalt’s first two matches. The RSL-Arizona Academy will likely be able to make his return to action next preseason.

“I’m pleased to say that Jordan’s surgery went very well this morning,” Cooper said. “While he has a lengthy rehab process ahead of him, we fully expect Jordan to make a complete physical recovery in time to return to the field by next preseason.”

Unbeaten through its first 11 games, Real Salt Lake will look to tie the all-time MLS record for longest unbeaten streak to start a season on Saturday, when it will host FC Dallas at Rio Tinto Stadium. An extremely limited amount of tickets remain to Saturday’s match; they can be purchased at the Rio Tinto Stadium box office, online at www.RealSaltLake.com/Tickets or over the phone at 801-727-2700.
