SANDY, Utah – As some of you saw last week on social media, we’ll be trying something a little bit different at Saturday’s home opener against LA Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium.
We’ll be unveiling our first ever full-stadium tifo immediately prior to kick, and we’ll need your help to do it right. Commemorative cardstock will be placed on every seat in the stadium, with claret cardstock and cobalt cardstock setup in alternating sections. The plan is for the entire stadium to hold up their cards prior to kickoff, creating a red-and-blue checkerboard effect that should look fantastic. The stadium-wide tifo will be unveiled around the same time as a special tifo that will be unfurled across Rio Tinto Stadium’s entire south stand.
It should go without saying, but in order for this display to work properly, we’ll need everyone to be in their seats early. Kick is at 2:00 p.m., but we’re asking for everyone to be in their seats by 1:45 in order to make this a success. Those interested are encouraged to join the RSL Supporters’ march to the match, which will leave Rio Tinto Stadium’s north tailgate lot – located off of 9000 S, west of State St. – at 1:00 p.m.
