SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake's Jeff Cassar was formally introduced as the Claret-and-Cobalt's third head coach on Thursday at a press conference at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Utah side's goalkeeper coach since May 2007, Cassar, RSL Owner Dell Loy Hansen, President Bill Manning and General Manager Garth Lagerwey all spoke on Thursday.
RSL announced Cassar's hiring as head coach on Wednesday. The 39-year-old Michigan native gave a heartfelt, emotional speech at his press conference, thanking the many involved in helping him reaching this point while expressing his excitement for the future of RSL.
