Mansally suspended one game by MLS Disciplinary Committee

Abdoulie Mansally v. FC Dallas - 10.01.13

SANDY, Utah / NEW YORK – Real Salt Lake DF Abdoulie Mansally was issued a one-game suspension and fine on Friday by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for serious foul play on FC Dallas MF Jackson in the 15th minute of last Saturday’s 1-1 draw between RSL and FCD at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Mansally received a red card on the play, but the Committee determined that his actions endangered the safety of his opponent and suspended him an extra game. The Gambian international will miss both of RSL’s remaining regular season matches, serving his suspension when the Claret-and-Cobalt take on the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field on Oct. 19 and when the Utah side hosts Chivas USA at Rio Tinto Stadium on Oct. 23.

Mansally appealed the decision through the MLS Players Union but the Committee’s decision was upheld.

Real Salt Lake is on a bye this weekend. The Claret-and-Cobalt will return to action next Saturday, Oct. 19, taking on West rival Portland at 8:30 p.m. MT at JELD-WEN Field. RSL will close out its regular season schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 23, hosting Chivas USA at 7:00 p.m. MT at Rio Tinto Stadium. A limited amount of tickets are available for the Chivas match and can be purchased at the Rio Tinto Stadium box office, online at www.RealSaltLake.com/Tickets or over the phone at 801-727-2700.
