Saborio up for Goal of the Week

Goal of the Week - Week 8

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake’s Alvaro Saborio is up for MLS Goal of the Week after scoring in remarkable fashion on Saturday night against FC Dallas.

Real Salt Lake’s all-time leading scorer is nominated for his game-winning header scored in the 77th minute just 14 seconds after entering the match. Saturday night marked Saborio’s first appearance for the Claret-and-Cobalt since breaking the fifth metatarsal in his right foot while in Costa Rica’s pre-World Cup training camp at the end of May. Prior to Saturday night, the Costa Rican international last appeared for RSL on May 11 in the club’s 5-2 win at Houston Dynamo. The game-winner against Dallas marked Saborio’s seventh goal of the year and 59th career regular season tally for the Claret-and-Cobalt.

Saborio is going up against goals from NY’s Thierry Henry, LA’s Baggio Husidic, Columbus’ Justin Meram and Portland’s Alvas Powell. Voting for Goal of the Week runs until 12:59 a.m. MT on Friday. Click here to vote for Sabo!
